“Ethics has to do with the most interesting parts of human life: money (exchange), sex, relationship, self-understanding, power, love, truth, insight, and mysticism. In summary, ethics is about relationship. It is about the inner relationships of our values to action. It is about the interaction between one belief and another, one desire and another, one fear and another. Ethics is about how we view and treat “the other” in our personal and professional communities. Ethics is the process by which we sort out what best creates inner and outer harmony in our lives and in the lives of those we care for.” (Kylea Taylor in The Ethics of Caring)
Discovering ethical Right Relationship with clients requires the same courageous approach to self-discovery that brought us to Holotropic Breathwork® and is just as important for those of us who want to do this work or find Right Relationship to our own inner parts and to the other people in our lives. The Ethics of Caring provides a no-blame model based on self-compassion and curiosity that supports a willingness to uncover and own our motivations, share with our peers what we have learned from ethical missteps, and make good choices on behalf of our clients and ourselves.
Kylea drew upon the tenets of several of the great religions to create InnerEthics™, a model for ethical self-reflection. The model clarifies the unique ethical territory of understanding and working skilfully with people who are experiencing profound and extra-ordinary states of consciousness and also provides a scaffolding for recognising our semi-conscious, inner motivations as practitioners, teachers, and caregivers in order to avoid harm and increase benefit for others.
We’ll do breathwork together (2 sessions as breather and 2 sessions as sitter), learn The Ethics of Caring model, role-play actual challenges we've experienced in the practice of Holotropic Breathwork, discuss countertransference, and experiment with the expressive arts via the self-discovery method of SoulCollage®, a creative practice that helps us view and listen to the feelings and counsel of our many parts.
A copy of Kylea's book "The Ethics of Caring" will be given to each participant as part of the training module materials.
We will start on 30th June at 10:00 with registration and close on 5th July at lunch time (around 1 pm). A more detailed schedule will be given shortly before the event. When traveling to Stadtschlaining please calculate travel times and plan your travel accordingly. For further information see the details under "Travel" below.
