His contributions as organizer, facilitator, trainer, host, technical coordinator have played an important role in the development and international networking of the Holotropic Breathwork community.

Contribution to the Development of Holotropic Work in Europe

Over the years, Thomas Liska has served as organizer, facilitator, host, and co-creator of approximately 40 training modules and multi-week training events in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic. In addition, he has contributed to more than ten major international conferences and large-scale events.

Among the most significant events are:

Training and Certification Work

In 2013, Thomas Liska was a member of the first certification team of the Walch Holotropic Training in Austria, together with Tav Sparks, contributing to the certification of approximately 35 facilitators.

Innovations within Holotropic Training

Through his initiative, several new training topics and educational formats were introduced into the international Holotropic Breathwork community.

Particularly noteworthy is the module “Ethics of Caring”, which was reintroduced into the international training curriculum in 2018 together with Kylea Taylor after an absence of more than twenty years. According to Kylea Taylor, this initiative opened the door to a second professional career within the field.

He also supported the introduction of the module “Trauma and Transformation”, based on the observation that a large proportion of participants in holotropic processes encounter biographical trauma and the need for its integration.

He initiated new module topics and encouraged long-standing Holotropic community members to step into the teacher role.

* Healing the Fragmented Self – Jean Farrell (Austria)
* Who Am I? – Jean Farrell (Austria)
* The Art of Living and Dying – Jean Farrell (Austria)
* Addictions and Attachments – Paul McCormack (Austria)
* Meditation and Non-Duality – Peter Köllerer (Austria)
* Traumatransformation – Sonja Busch (Austria, Germany, Italy)
* Ethics of Caring – Kylea Taylor (USA/Austria)
* Facilitation Training – Juanjo Segura (first introduced in Austria in 2025)

Establishment of the Holotropic Association Europe

Many of the training modules and educational formats that are now established would not have been possible—or would have been extremely difficult to implement—within the organizational limitations of the former U.S.-based structure. The European initiative created the necessary space for new topics, teachers, and training formats, thereby making a significant contribution to the evolution of Holotropic work in the 21st century.

Several of the modules and faculty members introduced through these European initiatives expanded the scope of the training curriculum and enriched the field with new perspectives. Apart from the module “Ethics of Caring,” many of these developments would likely not have been possible under the restrictions of the former U.S.-based organizational framework. The establishment of a European association enabled greater innovation, flexibility, and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the international Holotropic community.
