Maria Papaspyrou is a Senior Accredited psychotherapist with BACP, supervisor, systemic facilitator and educator based in Brighton, UK (https://towardswholeness.co.uk/).
She has been practising as a therapist for over 20 years, with experience across crisis services, mental health, sexual abuse and trauma, educational settings and harm reduction services supporting people in acute crisis during psychedelic experiences.
Her current clinical work focuses on psychedelic integration and psychotherapy in private practice and she supervises practitioners, organisations and clinical research teams working in the field of psychedelic therapy.
Maria teaches internationally and created the therapeutic component for the University of Exeter’s MSc in Psychedelics. She has supervised clinical trials, professional training programmes and retreat contexts, bringing together clinical experience, depth psychology, systemic practice and expanded states work.
Together with Tim Read, she co-founded and co-directs the Institute of Psychedelic Therapy, where they teach the two-year professional training in psychedelic-assisted therapy, based on their co-developed Depth Relational Process model.
Maria has co-edited with Chiara Baldini and David Luke "Psychedelic Mysteries of the Feminine" and co-edited with Tim Read "Psychedelics and Psychotherapy: The Healing Potential of Expanded States".
